PREFERENSI KUMBANG BADAK (Oryctes rhinocheros) PADA KOLEKSI PALEM KEBUN RAYA PURWODADI

ABSTRACT
Palms (Arecaceae) are exploited by human being, because of their potency as building material, oil source, food, handicraft, medicine and ornamental plant. Exploitation without conservation will cause destruction. Purwodadi Botanic Garden as institute of conservation ex-situ have duty to save species of palm from endangered and cultivate in garden as collection. In fact this effort meet some problems, such as pest of rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros). This Research aim is to determine preferences of O. rhinoceros at palms collection in Purwodadi Botanic Garden. From This result can give recommendation for prevention to protect this pest attack in the future. Observation done to all palms collection. Palm collection consist 117 species (389 plants), with 36 species (82 plants) get attack of O. rhinoceros (21,079%). intensity of attack highest (100%) 18 species, while sensitive (42,857 - 66,667%) 18 species. The species which is a little amount and more sensitive to attack are 6 species: Borassus Flabelifer, Corypha Umbraculifera, Corypha Utan, Latania Lontaroides, Pigafetta elata and Roystonea elata.
