Seed - Dispersal

ABSTRACT
Sintok (Cinnamomum sintoc Bl.) is Lauraceae family that category as endangered species. This species have known as medicinal plant as well as essential oil plant. Because of the potency and extinct in wild, the study of fruit dispersal and fall of leaves Cinnamomum sintoc Bl are needed. This research was conducted in Purwodadi Botanic Garden. The method of collection is modification fruit funnel trap net with analysis descriptive. ArcVeiw was used for display purpose. Result show that 11-70 fruits collect with productivity of a month. Fruits dispersal pattern is varying, highest at southwest until east. It’s possible from wind and sun factor. Fall of leaves rate is decline about 160 grams in seasonal change, so that climate factor (rainfall and temperature) have an effect on phenology adaptation.

STUDI PENYEBARAN TUMBUHAN ATSIRI DAN TUMBUHAN YANG BERASOSIASI DI KEBUMEN JAWA TENGAH

ABSTRACT
An essential oils plant has many species, but is a few are developing commercially. Kebumen is one of essential oils production area. This Study of Distribution of An Essential Oils Plants and also the association plant are needed. The method is explorative with analysis descriptive. The result is records 73 plot essential oils plant, that is Michelia champaca 5 plot, Michelia alba 5 plot, Cananga odorata 29 plot, Cananga odorata var. fruticosa 6 plot and Cinnamomum sintoc 18 plot, with association plant are 29 species, such as Ficus sp., Dyxosilum oroxylum and Terminalia catappa. Environmental parameter are altitude 19-44 m dpl, temperature 28-40 oC, humidity 40-90 % and pH soil 6,9-7. Location is found from Kec. Pejagoan, Sruweng, Adimulyo, Pertanahan, Ambal and Mirit with abundance at Kec. Ambal. In Summary the pattern distributions of essential oils plant in southern coastal area of Kebumen.

INVENTARISASI KOLEKSI TUMBUHAN PENGHASIL MINYAK ATSIRI DI KEBUN RAYA PURWODADI

ABSTRACT
Indonesia have high diversity of plant, one of them as essential oils plant. Purwodadi Botanic Garden as ex-situ conservation institute has collection from exploration in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to inventories of essential oils plant collection in Botanic Garden and species have been developed. The result show that 27 species (13 family) as essential oils plant and 3 species developed in propagation of seed and also as forest area rehabilitation. There are Sintok (Cinnamomum sintoc), Kenanga (Cananga odorata) and Cempaka (Michelia champaca).

ABSTRACT
Many Indonesia people exploited plant in daily lives especially living near forests. Knowledge of plant used as traditional medicinal plants is important to be conserved and developed, especially in rural. This information are needed. This research conducted in Bagak village, East Singkawang Distric, Singkawang Town, West Kalimantan. The methods are interview and observation in field. From observation result known that Dayak Salako tribe save of forest which decanted in customary law, 40 species as traditional medicine plants for 16 kinds of disease.

PREFERENSI KUMBANG BADAK (Oryctes rhinocheros) PADA KOLEKSI PALEM KEBUN RAYA PURWODADI

ABSTRACT
Palms (Arecaceae) are exploited by human being, because of their potency as building material, oil source, food, handicraft, medicine and ornamental plant. Exploitation without conservation will cause destruction. Purwodadi Botanic Garden as institute of conservation ex-situ have duty to save species of palm from endangered and cultivate in garden as collection. In fact this effort meet some problems, such as pest of rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros). This Research aim is to determine preferences of O. rhinoceros at palms collection in Purwodadi Botanic Garden. From This result can give recommendation for prevention to protect this pest attack in the future. Observation done to all palms collection. Palm collection consist 117 species (389 plants), with 36 species (82 plants) get attack of O. rhinoceros (21,079%). intensity of attack highest (100%) 18 species, while sensitive (42,857 - 66,667%) 18 species. The species which is a little amount and more sensitive to attack are 6 species: Borassus Flabelifer, Corypha Umbraculifera, Corypha Utan, Latania Lontaroides, Pigafetta elata and Roystonea elata.

Because of the potency and extinct in wild, the study of conservation Cinnamomum sintoc Bl are needed. Purwodadi Botanic Garden as Plants Conservation Institution takes responsibility to give information about the potency and cultivated. This article are discuss about common characteristic from genus until species (Cinnamomum sintoc Bl.), the potency as medicinal plant, cosmetic and material, character of seed, type of germination and rehabilitation of forest area as conservation effort.

ABSTRACT

Indonesia which the highest diversity of palm in the world is needs to conserve their collection because of high exploitation of palm species. Purwodadi Botanic Garden is Plants Conservation ex-situ Institution especially in lowland and dry climate area. The development of seed conservation and germination is also needed to maintain the palm collection in Purwodadi Botanical Garden. The aim of this study was to discuss of germination type of Sabal palmetto, Livistona australis and Licuala grandis in Purwodadi Botanical Garden. The results showed that seed behavior of Sabal palmetto and Livistona australis are ortodoks, but Licuala grandis is recalcitrant. Viabilities of Sabal palmetto (44%), Livistona australis (15%) and Licuala grandis (72%). Type of germination is remote ligular with difference time of stage.

ABSTRACT
Research of forest diversity in part of area CA. Raya Pasi needed to give information about ecology in this natural area which is still limited to report. This research aim is to know diversity of plants and forest condition through analysis vegetation at Sibayung and Nek Rokon hill. Plants inventories are 194 species, 159 genus, 74 family. The index diversity is between 3,75 - 6,26, with higher important value species are Durio zibethinus (tree), Canarium Sp. (belta), Cyperus Sp. (seedling), Calamus Sp. (belta) and Arenga pinnata (seedling). The species of Arenga pinnata and Artocarpus sp. have a high potential regeneration.

PENGARUH METODE PENYIMPANAN BENIH TERHADAP PERKECAMBAHAN KENANGA (Cananga odorata (Lam.) Hook. F. & Thoms)

ABSTRACT
An experiment on the viability of Cananga odorata (Lam.) Hook. F. & Thoms seed was conducted in different treatment storage method. The seed type of Cananga odorata is recalsitran. The seeds were treated with 4 treatments: K= without storage, A1=common storage (at room temperature 230 - 270C ) for 2 weeks , A2= storage at refrigerator temperature 80C for 2 weeks, A3= storage at silica gel for 2 weeks. Cananga odorata is anonaceae family which consist of essential oils that has medicinal effect. The results was analized by Complete Random Design, which consist of 4 treatment that replicated 3 times and 50 samples at each replicate.The result indicated that the treatment gave effects on the initial days of germination, the percentage of seed viability and the growth rate of seedling. The different traetments for 2 weeks in generally gave lower seed viability than control (K). Storage methode at silica gel (A3) is better than other storage methode (A1 and A2) if we will save cananga seed for 2 weeks.

Family Arecaceae (Palm) has high diversity on its species. Indonesia which the highest diversity of palm in the world, needs to conserve their collection because of high exploitation of palm species. Purwodadi Botanic Garden is Plants Conservation ex-situ Institution especially in lowland and dry climate area. The aim of this study was to discuss potency of Arecaceae collection in Purwodadi Botanic Garden. The Arecaceae collection in garden consist of 60 genera and 117 species, some of them can be utilized as building material, oil source, food, handicraft, ornamental plant as well as the medicinal plant. More than 12 species are potencies as a medicinal plant such as Arenga pinnata, Areca cathecu, Borassus flabellifera, Cocos nucifera, Corypa utan, Phonix dactylifera an many other species were discussed. So that needs furthermore study to develop of potency and effort conservation.

Family Arecaceae (Palm) has high diversity on its species. Indonesia which the highest diversity of palm in the world, needs to conserve their collection because of high exploitation of palm species. The development of the collection is also needed the role Purwodadi Botanical Garden is to conserve the endemic palm grown in Indonesia. The aim of this study was to evaluate of Arecaceae collection in Purwodadi Botanical Garden, to record the seeds collected from the palm tree as well as to record the microclimate condition. The potency of this family was also discussed. The results showed that Purwodadi Botanical Garden collect 4,6 % of endemic palm. During 29 years the collection increased with 48 species, 20 genus. Arecaceae can be utilized as building material, oil source, food, handicraft, ornamental plant as well as the medicinal plant.
